Wedding or Event Venue Search

Searching for your venue and not sure where to start? I thought I’d create a quick blog to help point you in the direction based on my experience over the years.

Make a shortlist of your favourite venues.

But how do I do this?

An internet search is always a good start but also think if you’ve heard an advert for luxury venue or did you drive past a refurbished warehouse while out and about. It doesn’t matter how you know of the venue, if you’re intrigued then add it to the list! The list can be of any size really but remember the bigger the list, the more research you’ll need to do, unless you hire a planner who will do it for you.

It’s good to identify your style/theme for the wedding or event as this will help target the right venues.

Not sure about the style?

Ask yourself which words best describes your vibe. Traditional, contemporary, glamourous, alternate, rustic, boho, chic, city slick and so on.

Guest numbers are important too as you don’t want to find your dream venue only to discover you’ve too many guests, that’s always a bummer. You could be ruthless and chop the guest list down. This is always an option. An unpopular option, however an option, nonetheless.

Read reviews – this is super important. I know, I know, not all reviews are verified but personally I think if someone goes out their way to leave a review, then it’s made an impact. Good or bad.

It’s not just about looking for the negative. It’s about getting a good feel for the overall service provided.

Don’t waste precious planning time and have unnecessary (& astronomical) fuel costs by travelling all over to visit venue after venue. It’s time consuming and can be exhausting especially if you never get ‘that feeling’ when you walk in. (Trust me, you’ll know when you’ve found your venue!)

It is important to have a viewing before booking but narrow down your search beforehand.

It is SO important to check availability & costs to make sure they have your preferred date & that they fit in with your budget. The majority of venues will provide you with a package option and minimum guest numbers before you even step foot on the property.

Ask if they have a virtual/online tour you can check out first (saves so much planning time & helps whittle down the list)

Pick your top 3 and arrange a site visit, easy!
